These guidelines explain how Beteseb Connect handles lawful requests from authorized government agencies and law enforcement concerning Beteseb Connect accounts, activity, safety incidents, or legitimate investigations. They also describe, honestly, what Beteseb Connect can and cannot do.
1. Valid legal process
Beteseb Connect evaluates lawful government and law-enforcement requests in accordance with applicable law. Requests may include subpoenas, court orders, search warrants, preservation requests, and other legally valid process.
Before responding, Beteseb Connect may verify the identity of the requesting official, the authority of the requesting agency, the authenticity of the request, jurisdiction, legal validity, and the scope and specificity of what is requested.
Beteseb Connect will disclose information only when legally required or otherwise legally permitted, and only information that is responsive to the valid request and actually available to Beteseb Connect.
2. Emergency requests
Emergency requests may concern circumstances involving an objectively reasonable belief of a danger of death or serious physical injury. Where applicable law permits disclosure in such circumstances, agencies should submit, at a minimum:
- Agency name
- Officer or official name and title
- Official government contact information
- Case or reference number
- Nature of the emergency
- Relevant account identifiers
- The specific information requested
- An explanation of how the information relates to the emergency
- The legal basis for the request
Beteseb Connect is a small operation and cannot commit to a specific response time. Where the situation involves immediate danger, agencies should contact their own emergency channels first.
3. Preservation requests
Authorized agencies may submit legally valid preservation requests where applicable. Beteseb Connect does not promise any particular retention period, cannot preserve information it does not possess, and will not describe technical capabilities that have not actually been implemented.
4. Information required with legal requests
Where applicable, legal requests should include:
- Agency name
- Requesting officer or official name and title
- Official government contact information
- Case or reference number
- Specific member or account identifiers
- The specific records requested
- The relevant date range
- The legal authority relied upon
- A copy of the applicable legal process
Requests should be sufficiently narrow and specific to identify the relevant account and information. Overly broad requests may be asked to be clarified or narrowed.
5. Notice to members
Beteseb Connect may provide notice to affected members when legally permitted and appropriate. Notice may be withheld where prohibited by law or legal process, or where applicable law otherwise permits. Notice is not guaranteed in every case.
6. Data availability
Beteseb Connect can only provide information that it actually possesses or controls and that remains available when a valid request is processed. The categories of information Beteseb Connect holds are described in our Privacy Policy. Beteseb Connect does not claim to collect, store, monitor, preserve, log, verify, or be able to retrieve any category of information beyond what is described there.
7. No informal disclosure
Informal inquiries do not automatically result in the disclosure of member information. Requests for member information must satisfy applicable legal requirements, except where applicable law permits disclosure in emergency circumstances.
8. Serious safety and abuse
Beteseb Connect's Member Standards prohibit, among other conduct: child sexual exploitation or abuse material; sexual exploitation; human trafficking; non-consensual intimate content; credible threats of violence; stalking; extortion; fraud; financial scams; impersonation; harassment; and other conduct prohibited by Beteseb Connect policies.
Beteseb Connect does not operate continuous human monitoring, automated content scanning, identity verification, background checks, or government reporting systems, and we do not claim otherwise. Members can report concerns through the in-app report tools described in our Safety Center, and reports are stored privately for administrator review.
9. How to submit a request
Authorized law-enforcement agencies should use our public Contact / Support form for initial contact. Choose a general topic, include your agency name, official contact details, and case or reference number, and an administrator will respond with instructions concerning legal process.
Law-enforcement requests are distinct from ordinary member support requests. Members who need help with their account should use the same form and describe their question in their own words.
10. International requests
Requests originating outside the United States may be subject to applicable U.S. law, applicable foreign law, treaties, mutual legal assistance procedures, or other appropriate legal mechanisms depending upon the circumstances. Compliance with foreign-government requests is not automatic.
11. Fraudulent or abusive request protection
Beteseb Connect may seek additional information necessary to authenticate a request, and may reject, challenge, or request clarification concerning requests that appear fraudulent, unauthorized, legally defective, insufficiently specific, excessively broad, or inconsistent with applicable law. Member information is not disclosed merely because someone claims to represent law enforcement.
12. Privacy and data minimization
Beteseb Connect seeks to protect member privacy while responding to legally valid requests. Any disclosure is limited to information appropriately responsive to the valid legal request and actually available to Beteseb Connect.
